BACKGROUND
Our minibus (affectionately called 'Joe', named by the first owner) has been a great servant of the 212th over the past 6 years. He seemlessly took over transport responsibilities from his predecssor (Gus) - taking boys to camp, on trips, to expeditions/DofE ventures, travelling to local and national football/rugby matches, ensuring safe travel to local and national competitions across Scotland (and the UK). But 'Joe' has also acted as a helping hand to other local groups and charities - other BB companies, the Girls Brigade, Church groups and organisations, youth projects, youth football and rugby clubs, to name a few. So you can see the minibus isn't just for our benefit - but for the wider community across Bishpbriggs and beyond to help in meeting their own aims, goals and programme activities.
Joe is, however, approaching 13 years old and whilst he is still running great, he doesn't meet Low Emission Zone (LEZ) regulations, and due to his weight and size (he's not fat, just big boned) there are strict requirements on who can drive him. Relacing Joe with an LEZ compliant vehicle and one that does not have the same driving restrictions is our ultimate aim. That will help open up even more opportunities for greater use by ourselves and other groups, and be more environmentally friendly to boot!
